Cooking it's my greatest passion and I spent 10 years gathering techniques and local flavors.
I love to cook slow food and old Romanian recipes with great organic ingredients. I learned from my grandma and people I love and respect for their culinary expertise. Me and my husband have been hosts for tourist that want a real insight into the Romanian culture and cuisine. I still travel around the world and apply different techniques with local ingredients.
ABOUT THE MENU
It will be a family style dinner with fruits and vegetables always in season and great meat and cheese from local sources. Depending on the season, the dinner will have different ingredients but will always contain starter, soup or salad, main course and desert. We Romanians love our slow-cooked food but also out slow drinking. We usually drink at least 2 types of alcohol depending on the meal. In our home, wine from a 150 old vineyard it's the specialty. It's all about real local taste and funny people.
1. At least 3 or 4 appetizers in season with local products. From eggplant salad, "Romanian hummus" made from beans, zacuska to meat lovers paradise with different types of cold cuts.
2. A very hearty, tasty and almost umami taste soup of the season
Because Romanians love soups I learned to cook about 25 recipes: from total vegan to meaty sour or sweet. It's all about what you would like :)
From a very interesting fish or meat grill to savory cooked dishes.
If its summer the we should light-up a barbecue in the garden and roast some nice vegetables and meat of fish of preference.
I love deserts with fruits and nuts in season.
I love baking pastry and tasty pies but my all time favorite are the crepes with all kind of jams, nuts or chocolate
From the Romanian traditional brandy called tuica to a nice lemonade and wine nicely paired with the food
